Board and Committee Member
Salary - £11,000 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen our Board with individuals who bring specific skills and expertise in certain key areas.
Due to planned retirements, we are seeking members to sit on the GSA Board, our Audit and Risk Committee and up to one other committee depending on your skills. We are primarily looking for candidates with risk, audit and finance experience, however if you have other relevant skills we would love to hear from you. Other skills we would be interested in are housing operations, asset management and IT / digital.
About the role
The Board provides leadership and direction to the organisation to ensure that it fulfils its charitable purpose. It works collectively to oversee the running of the business, ensuring that it operates in a safe, effective, efficient and ethical manner.
Board members contribute to the setting of GreenSquareAccord`s strategic direction, working positively with the Executive Team to ensure they are held to account for the overall performance of the organisation and ensuring compliance with regulation and legislation.
The Board also ensures that risks to the organisation are understood and managed, helping to safeguard assets, finances, customers and our colleagues.
Within the role, you will set and demonstrate a positive culture, with a strong customer focus and emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusion while challenging and questioning in a positive and constructive manner.
You will also ensure skills and sector awareness are kept up to date and participate in learning and development sessions.
Time commitment
Meetings are held every two months in person at our Head Office in Birmingham. In addition, Board members will usually be expected to serve on two Committees, which meet quarterly (online) during working hours. The Board also holds two strategy days in October with an overnight stay.
About you
We are looking for candidates with an understanding of the social housing sector and its key drivers, risks and challenges. Experience of working within a regulated sector would be beneficial.
It is essential that you have a demonstrable commitment GreenSquareAccord`s values and strategic objectives. You will also have demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively and at a strategic level.
Our Board and Committee members work hard and are committed. They prepare for and contribute effectively at meetings and provide respectful challenge and insight.
